Brilliant Travel Conference

Brilliant Travel Conference: Members invited to embrace opportunity, diversity and change as they toast successful start to the year.

Brilliant Travel, part of the Barrhead Travel Group, last week celebrated the return of its annual Spring Conference.

Held in Glasgow’s Grand Central Hotel across Wednesday 3rd May and Thursday 4th May, the conference, titled Embracing Change, Diversity and Opportunity in Travel, brought together over 40 of the group’s homeworking and Managed Service Travel Partner (MSTP) members.

Jacqueline Dobson, President of Barrhead Travel, officially opened the conference and confirmed record trading levels for both homeworkers and MSTPs so far during 2023, citing booking growth of over 35 per cent for homeworkers and 45 per cent for MSTPs.

Dobson hailed cruise as one of the major areas to watch for this year, adding that Brilliant Travel members were experiencing cruise booking growth of up to 271 percent compared with 2019.

Day one saw member speed-dating sessions with key suppliers – of which there were 30 in attendance – followed by an evening trip to Glasgow’s Golf Fang for some indoor mini-golf and socialising.

On day two, the conference continued with informative sessions on industry and business insights. Sessions included sustainability, product, and training from Barrhead Travel’s team as well as a special guest session on Diversity, Equality and Inclusion presented by Virgin Voyages’ Luke Day. The conference concluded with a panel discussing The Power of Local PR & Marketing with four external experts on media, design, branding and PR.

Linda Pyle, Director of Brilliant Travel, said:

“I’m delighted we were able to come together for our first post-pandemic Spring Conference. Our business owners have had a storming start to the year and it felt like the perfect time to take stock, celebrate one another’s achievements and look ahead to the rest of the year.

“There is so much opportunity in travel at the moment and we wanted to design a conference that inspired our members to think outside the box and consider what opportunities would fit with their business. We also wanted to provide some insights on key industry topics such as sustainability and DE&I in travel which were well received as members commit to ensuring their businesses are making positive impacts in the communities at home and abroad.”
