Exploring Sri Lanka: A Journey of Discovery with Brilliant Travel's Homeworkers

Our homeworker's Denise O’Connor and Managed Service Travel Partner Gemma Holmes from Cumbria Travel, part of Brilliant Travel, recently went on an educational trip to Sri Lanka with Gold Medal.

They had an incredible time exploring Sri Lanka, learning about the culture and best places to visit.  Unique experiences like these form part of the training and development that Brilliant Travel provides for their homeworkers.

Denise and Gemma shared with us several key highlights from their trip.  Firstly, was the wildlife walking down the side of the road, such as elephants and the tour guides ensured they paused to capture the moment and got to experience the Elephant Safari at Minneriya National Park, which they highly recommend.

Other highlights included taking in scenes from local villages, luxury resorts and the hustle bustle of Colombo city. They got to experience a sunrise hike to the top of the ancient rock fortress of Sigiriya with blissful sunrise views of the beautiful surrounding areas.

They also got to enjoy cooking traditional Sri Lankan cuisine on the beach with hotel chefs, using fresh ingredients sourced from the local market, which they had the chance to explore as well as the fishing harbour.

They also got to explore Polunnaruwa Sigirya, the oldest Hindu temple in Polonnaruwa where Disney Nature’s acclaimed movie ‘Monkey Kingdom’ was filmed.

During their stay, they relaxed in luxury spas and stayed in beautiful accommodation which they can’t wait to recommend to their customers.
