Q&A with Nikki and Nicola of Azzura Travel

Azzura Travel, ran by double-act Nikki Doollan and Nicola King, joined the Brilliant Travel family back in October 2019 and officially opened their store on the 25th of November. They’re really busy with peaks right now, but we managed to grab them for a quick chat to find out what made them join Brilliant Travel.

Hi there ladies, can you tell us a little bit about yourselves?

Nikki: Hi I’m Nikki and I’ve been working in travel for 23 years, mainly business and student travel.

Nicola: And I’m Nicola. I worked for 12 years overseas as a travel adviser to a retail manager. I’ve been working with Nikki for 5 years.

Can you tell us why you approached Brilliant Travel?

We were working in the TUI Prescott store when we were made redundant last September.

We read about Darren Owen, who owns Snowdonia Travel and Cruise, and how he started his own travel agency with Brilliant Travel. We gave him a call and he told us about his experience and we were sold on the idea of joining.

What are your specialist areas?

Nicola: I specialise in weddings, cruises and Lapland. I have also lived in Egypt, Mexico, Spain, and the Costa del Sol.

Nikki: I am a passionate traveller and will visit almost anywhere. I have travelled across Asia, the Americas and Europe.

What made you want to work for yourself?

We worked so well together at TUI and didn’t want to split up when we were made redundant. We then stumbled upon Darren Owen’s story and were encouraged to start our business.

What attracted you to Brilliant Travel?

After we read Darren’s story we were really curious. When we spoke to Linda on the phone we loved the package that was on the offer and realised it was a difficult package to beat.

How will your business operate?

We will be appointment only (though we do allow walk-ins). We can also arrange to come to your house, which is popular with couples planning a destination wedding.

Our address is:

497 Warrington Road Reign Hill

0151 541 3695

You can also find us on Facebook:

What do you do when you’re not running your own business?

Nicola: I’m very family orientated and spend most of my spare time with family.

Nikki: I spend all my spare time travelling.

What’s your favourite holiday destination and why?

Nicola: Mexico! I lived there for a year and even got married there.

Nikki: Dubai, but usually as part of a multicentre holiday.

And if you had one piece of advice for a Travel Consultant looking to open their own travel agency, what would it be?

Do your research and believe in yourself.
