Meet our new Managed Partner: Ben Franklin of Rockstar Travel
We’re really happy to announce that we have added a new member to our Brilliant Travel family: travel agency Rockstar Travel. We grabbed the Managing Director, Ben Franklin, for a chat to find out more.
So Ben, welcome to Brilliant Travel. Can you tell us a little bit more about yourself?
Cough…41, Colchester Essex (I have just relocated to Essex from Hampshire), been in travel for 3 years as a franchisee for another company, prior to this was working for British Airways as a Customer Service Manager and did that for nearly 14 years travelling the world.
How long have you been running Rockstar Travel for?
We are still in the launch period, so literally only since April/May. Our website is nearly ready to be published and we are planning a launch event at the end of the month.
What kind of travel product do you specialise in?
I really enjoy tailormade trips, I find it more rewarding and a great opportunity to get to know your clients. I am a cruise expert, having been on many cruises, I was lucky enough to join the Saga Cruise launch last week.
Why did you decide to join Brilliant Travel?
It wasn’t a quick decision as I wanted to see what options were available, however, after speaking with Linda and meeting with Dan (in Costa Coffee, Southampton Airport) I was convinced Brilliant was where I wanted to be.
What do you when you’re not running your own business?
OK, I am a huge fan of Love Island, also a closet fan of ‘Doctors’ the daytime soap. I am addicted to audible, listening to lots of motivational books. I have in the last year been part of Slimming World and lost 4 stone. I love to holiday, so I am hoping once I have recruited a team, I can enjoy some sunshine.
What’s your favourite holiday destination and why?
So many to choose from, I love Greece, last year I visited Kefalonia, which had been on my bucket list, I love the food, the laid back culture and the Island isn’t a touristy as the others. I would have to say I am a huge cruise fan and have been on 5 Disney Cruises, I would like to cruise in Asia.
And if you had one piece of advice for a Travel Consultant looking to open their own travel agency, what would it be?
Plan ahead and budget well, don’t be afraid to ask for help and advice. Most importantly, just go for it, it is a wonderful industry.
